COURSE OUTLINE
EMERGENCY ROOM CODING
Description: This course will teach trainees the ICD-9 and CPT coding rules for coding Emergency Room (ER) visits.
Goal: To train entry level coders to be proficient in the ICD-9 and CPT coding methodology as it relates to ER visits.
OBJECTIVES:
- Trainees will be knowledgeable in basic and gross anatomy and physiology of the body systems
- Understand Medical terminologies and abbreviations
- Understand ICD-9 and CPT coding rules
- Apply the ICD-9 and CPT coding rules in coding ER Medical services
